Stage 01 · Build

Ecommerce Development

Online stores built around how your products, orders and customers actually work.

“I need a website, store or digital product.”

Ecommerce looks like a website with a cart, and then you meet shipping rules, GST, stock in two places, returns, payment fees and a checkout on a phone. Most store problems aren't design problems. They're workflow problems the design papers over.

We build and improve online stores by starting with how your products, stock and orders really move, then choosing the simplest platform and integrations that support that, hosted or custom. Checkout gets the most attention because it's where revenue is won or lost.

Signs this is what you need

  • You sell through social or a marketplace and want your own storefront
  • Orders arrive by email or phone and are retyped into other systems
  • Checkout abandonment is high and you don't know why
  • Stock levels in your shop and on your site disagree

When you probably don't need it

  • You sell a handful of things and a payment link or booking form would do
  • A hosted platform already covers your needs: we'll help you configure it rather than rebuild it

Telling you this is part of the job.

What a store needs

The parts of an online store, and what goes wrong in each

  • Product catalogue: structure, variants, filtering and search that match how people shop
  • Checkout: fewest steps, guest purchase, clear costs, mobile-friendly forms
  • Payments: cards, wallets and buy-now-pay-later providers common in Australia, chosen on fees and customer fit
  • Order management: confirmations, status, fulfilment and returns flow
  • Inventory integration: one source of truth for stock across shop, site and marketplaces
  • Customer accounts: only where they help repeat purchase rather than block first purchase
  • Performance: product images and category pages are the slowest parts of most stores

Australian specifics

Things Australian stores have to get right

GST display and invoicing, Australian Consumer Law obligations around pricing and refunds, shipping through Australian carriers and, where you collect customer data, privacy obligations. We flag these as things to confirm with your accountant or legal adviser. We build so they can be met; we don't provide legal advice.

How It Works

How we deliver Ecommerce Development

1

Map the workflow

How products, stock, orders, shipping and returns actually work in your business.

2

Build and integrate

Choose the platform and integrations, build the store and connect your systems.

3

Launch and tune

Test orders end to end, launch, then watch checkout data and improve it.

What's Included

Every engagement includes

Catalogue and inventory

Product data structured for search, filtering and stock that stays in sync with your systems.

Checkout and payments

A short, clear checkout with the payment methods your customers use, tested on real devices.

Order and system integrations

Accounting, shipping, inventory and CRM connected so orders don't get retyped.

Store performance

Image handling, caching and script discipline so category and product pages load quickly on mobile.

The Deliverable

A working, tested store connected to the systems you use, plus documentation of how orders, stock and payments flow.

Common Questions

Before you get in touch

Should I use Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom store?

It depends on catalogue size, how unusual your workflow is, and who will maintain it. Hosted platforms are often the right answer. Custom work is justified when your workflow or integrations genuinely demand it. We recommend on fit, not on what we'd prefer to build.

Can you add ecommerce to my existing website?

Often yes. That's a feature implementation rather than a rebuild, provided the current platform can host it safely and stay fast.

Do you provide legal or tax advice for online stores?

No. We build stores so GST, consumer-law and privacy requirements can be met, and we flag the points to confirm with your accountant or legal adviser.

Tell us what isn't working.

You don't need to know exactly what you need. We'll work out what actually needs to be built, fixed, improved or changed, and tell you if the answer is 'nothing'.
