Website Maintenance & Improvement
Protect what you've built: secure, fast, backed up and moving forward.
“It's live, but is it safe, fast and maintained?”
Not every business needs a new website. Plenty already have one that mostly does the job, but it's slowing down, something is broken, the plugins are out of date, or nobody is quite sure who looks after it. Tropical Wave Global works with businesses in exactly that position, whoever built the site originally.
Website maintenance and improvement means we look after what you have: fixing bugs, keeping software updated, making pages faster, tightening the structure so search engines understand it, and making sensible changes as your business changes. When a site has reached the point where patching stops making sense, we'll say so and scope a redevelopment or modernisation instead of quietly billing you for band-aids.

Signs this is what you need
- Something broke after an update and nobody is sure why
- Pages load slowly, forms fail, or plugins have been waiting for updates for months
- The developer who built the site is gone, or you never had one
- You have no backups you've ever tested
When you probably don't need it
- The site is sound and changes rarely: a pay-as-needed arrangement can beat a retainer
- The platform is end-of-life and every fix is a patch: consider redevelopment
Telling you this is part of the job.
What maintenance actually covers
Ten things that quietly decide whether your site stays healthy
- Security updates for the platform, plugins and dependencies
- Bug fixing, with the cause diagnosed rather than the symptom hidden
- Backups that are restored as a test, not just taken
- Uptime and error monitoring so problems reach us before your customers
- Performance work: images, scripts, caching and hosting configuration
- Content updates and small changes without a ticket queue
- Compatibility with new browsers, devices and payment or API changes
- Dependency and framework upgrades before they become emergencies
- Technical support in plain English
- Ongoing development: the next improvement, scoped and prioritised
No unnecessary retainers
Maintenance shaped to the site, not sold as a package
A brochure site on a stable stack needs very different care from a booking system that takes payments. We scope maintenance to the actual risk and the actual rate of change, and say plainly when a retainer isn't warranted.
How It Works
How we deliver Website Maintenance & Improvement
Review & prioritise
We audit the site as it stands (speed, errors, structure, search basics) and give you a prioritised list of what matters most.
Fix & improve
Work is done in agreed pieces, tested before it goes live, with changes explained in plain English.
Keep it healthy
Ongoing support, updates and improvements as your business changes, scoped so you know what you're getting.
What's Included
Every engagement includes
Website support & bug fixes
Broken forms, layout glitches, errors after an update, pages that stopped working. Diagnosed properly and fixed at the cause rather than hidden.
Updates & security hygiene
Keeping platforms, plugins and dependencies current, and checking the basics like backups, HTTPS and access, so avoidable problems don't become emergencies.
Performance optimisation
Image, script and font clean-ups aimed at Core Web Vitals and real-world speed on mobile, measured before and after.
Modernisation & redevelopment
When an old theme, page builder or codebase is holding you back, we plan a staged modernisation or full redevelopment that keeps your content and search history intact.
The Deliverable
A written site review with prioritised fixes, followed by the agreed improvements delivered and documented, so you know exactly what changed.
Common Questions
Before you get in touch
Can you maintain a website you didn't build?
Yes. Most of our maintenance work is on sites built by someone else. We start with a review so we understand what we're taking on before agreeing to anything.
What's included in website maintenance and support?
It depends on your site, but typically: bug fixes, software and plugin updates, backups and security checks, performance improvements, content changes, and small enhancements. We scope it with you rather than selling a one-size-fits-all package.
Should I fix my website or rebuild it?
If the foundations are sound, fixing and improving is almost always cheaper. If the platform is outdated, insecure or fighting you on every change, redevelopment can be the better investment. We'll give you an honest recommendation either way.
Do you support businesses in Moreton Bay and Brisbane?
Yes. We're based in Bray Park and support businesses across Moreton Bay and Greater Brisbane, and work remotely with clients elsewhere in Queensland.
